“Christian vocation is the renewal of the personal friendship with Jesus Christ, which gives full meaning to one’s existence and makes it receptive to the Kingdom of God. The Church lives off this friendship, nourished by the Word and by the Sacraments, holy truths especially entrusted to the ministry of bishops, priests and deacons consecrated by the Sacrament of Holy Orders.

“For this reason the priest’s mission is irreplaceable and it must not be doubted that God continues to call some men to leave everything and dedicate themselves to preaching the Gospel and to pastoral ministry.”

Pope Benedict XVI

The harvest is truly great in the Diocese of Galway, Kilmacduagh & Kilfenora, and we are asked to pray continualy for labourers to assist in the work of evangelisation here in the west of Ireland. While Jesus Christ calls each person to play a specific and unique role in the life of the Church, it is undoubted that he calls some to the diocesan priesthood. This section of the web site is intended to support and assist those who feel this particular call might be for them.

For further advice or information please speak to your local priest or get in touch with me directly - my details are in the contact section of this site.

With every blessing on all those who seek to discern the call of Christ.

Fr Diarmuid Hogan
Vocations Director
