Fr Michael Connolly is a priest in parish and chaplaincy ministry, who holds an MSc and a PhD in high-energy astrophysics, obtained while working with the VERITAS collaboration, Harvard-Smithsonian astrophysical observatory near Tucson, Az.
His talk centres on the search for truth, and how this search requires two foundational sources, represented by two books from one author. The heart of this search is the several millennia old encounter between the secular and sacred, a respectful dialogue, at times fraught with difficulty, which began among other instances in the ancient science of astronomy.
This talk is aimed at a young adult audience having some fluency in the sciences and philosophy, but it will be pitched at a level accessible to all seekers of truth.
