Very Rev. Martin Whelan — “Crossing the Kedron”
The Kedron Valley separates the City of Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives. Jesus would have crossed the Kedron Valley to reach Gethsemane where he suffered the ‘agony in the garden’ the night before his passion and death. Philosopher and mystic John Moriarty uses the term ‘Crossing the Kedron’ throughout his writings to describe a journey we all have to undertake in our ‘dark night of the soul’ so as to experience spiritual awakening and resurrection.
8.00pm Wednesday 19 March
Neasa Flaherty — “How the Psalms sing to me”
Neasa has been involved in parish music ministry for many years. A primary teacher for three decades, Neasa has recently joined the team of Diocesan Education Advisors. Neasa will consider how the psalms are a source of reflection and affirmation to us and how we can bring our everyday grief, pain, anxiety and equally our joy to God through the psalms and trust in Him. Of course there will be psalm singing too!

Br Ronan Sharpley OFM — “The Five Lents of St Francis of Assisi”
The Assisi Compilation, a mid-13th-century biography of St Francis, describes how he created time and space apart each year, dedicating himself to prayer and fasting in solitude, in order ‘to know the will of the Lord, about how he could please Him better’.
