RCIA 2025/2026 Registration Now Open
The Diocese of Galway, Kilmacduagh and Kilfenora, together with the Diocese of Clonfert, are delighted to announce the opening of registration for the 2025/2026 intake of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA).
The RCIA is a life-changing journey for adults who wish to explore the Catholic faith and prepare to receive the sacraments of baptism, confirmation, and Eucharist. It is open to those who have never been baptised, those from other Christian traditions, or Catholics seeking to complete their initiation.
Each year, across our dioceses, individuals take this step—sometimes quietly, sometimes after years of searching. For many, the experience is deeply personal, often unexpected, and always transformative.
As one new Catholic who was baptised at the Easter Vigil 2025 shared:
"I thought I was just signing up to learn about the Church. I didn’t realise how deeply I would be changed by it. The welcome, the honesty, the space to question—it opened something in me. On the night of the Vigil, I felt joy I hadn’t known before."
The RCIA process begins in the autumn and leads to reception into the Church at Easter. It involves weekly gatherings, prayer, reflection, and above all, community. Each participant is accompanied by people who care, listen, and walk with them.
If you feel called to explore the Catholic faith—or if someone you know is asking deeper questions—this could be the right moment.
Registration is now open. To find out more, contact your local parish or Fr John Gerard Acton at jgacton@galwaydiocese.ie
